There is a story this week in the Manly Daily which echoes the many calls I’ve taken on talk-back radio over the last year – why is my TV reception playing up? or Why is my TV signal dropping out?  Perhaps – why have I lost Channel 10? The answer is mobile phones, and the solution is simple.

So here’s the simple situation.  A few years ago, and for many years before that, we used a part of the airwaves to transmit and receive Analog TV.

We’ve moved on to Digital now, and that uses a whole other part of the airwaves around it.  When Analog was switched off, the government pocketed Billions of dollars by selling the unused airwaves to the Telcos.

The Telcos are now using that space for Mobile Phone transmission.  Great!  Better mobile coverage!

But, if you’ve got old cabling, older TVs or an old antenna on your roof most likely – you’ll still be “receiving” those old airwaves which are now congested by mobile signals.

As a result, your digital TV signal might drop out, it might pixelate, you might even lose a few channels all together.

Well, for $14.95, and with no skills whatsoever the solution is here.  Jaycar sell this simple little filter.  You unplug the antenna from your TV, plug this into your TV, and then the antenna cable into it.

Bingo!  Messy 4G signals are ignored, and your TV sees crystal clear Digital TV.  Give it a try!
