Don’t know if you’ve ever done this, but have a look how filthy your keyboard is.  Turn it upside down, tap it on the desk.  It’s disgusting.  try doing that in a shared workspace.  Wow.

Kensington to the rescue with their new waterproof keyboard.

This guy is not just spill proof, it can be put into the dishwasher and given the once over.

It’s not your average keyboard though.  It’s like the keys have all been covered in a plastic bag, the keys underneath don’t feel the same, yet they work just as you would expect.

In fact, it’s very quiet to use without any impact on your accuracy of typing.

To get the full waterproof rating you do need to put a cap over the USB port, but that stays attached to the cable so you won’t lose it.

As a companion, if you’re really clumsy with your drinks at your desk – there’s a mouse too.  Same waterproof rating.

The mouse is a much bigger adjustment, feels strange to move and the buttons again are under a special coating.

Brand Manager for Kensington, Clare Hose said, “The new range is the ideal choice for schools, government agencies, healthcare and food industries, where contaminated environments are a greater concern.

“The 100 per cent waterproof keyboard and mouse were designed to meet the growing demand for devices that support productivity and provide a high level of protection. With completely submersible encasing, the devices are extremely durable and can be easily washed and disinfected.

“The IP68 keyboard and mouse form part of a larger range of products tailored to industries and professionals where durability and hygiene place a greater importance,” she said.
