It appears Amazon Prime Video is now available in 200 countries around the world – Including Australia. EFTM has tonight downloaded the Amazon Prime Video app on both Android and iOS devices and successfully signed in and streamed content without error or warning.
This launch comes after last week’s publicity stunt with the giant heads of Clarkson, Hammond and May driving through Sydney and follows the launch of the Grand Tour in November.
Now four episodes in, a new episode is launching each Friday and this app launch makes it possible for people to watch on their favourite devices with ease.

We’ve signed in with an existing account, and also created a new account within the app, both worked fine.
Pricing is in US Dollars, at $2.99 for an introductory period, $5.99 after that.
NB: This will cause some controversy, as it avoids the Government’s recent GST on overseas purchases as it appears – more on this later.
That’s around $8 per month Aussie for the standard rate, and $4 for the introductory period.
It appears at this early stage that signups are only available in the Android version, which is possibly do avoid a revenue share with Apple through iTunes App Store purchasing.

We await an official announcement from Amazon, but for those waiting for mobile device availability – it’s yours now on iOS and Android.
Apple TV “casting” is possible with the iOS version, we’re unsure yet about Chromecast compatibility for Android.
The Amazon Video app is also now available on Smart TVs. We’ve checked on the 2016 Samsung and installed with ease.
