CES does the full 360

At CES in Las Vegas almost an entire section of the show floor is committed for 360 cameras. They’re coming in different shapes and sizes and working in different ways. Here are a few of our favourites.

KODAK Orbit360 4K

The once down in the dumps camera and film  company has been embracing digital for the last few years to try and claw back lost ground. This year they are entering the 360 camera market with a 4K version.

Looking a lot like a GoPro with a lens on each side this little camera will enter the US market at the $500 mark, absolutely aiming at the bigger players.

The camera uses the two 20MP sensors for capturing photo or video and carries out the stitching for you so it can be easily uploaded to Facebook or YouTube. You can also use just the front lens to shoot in 4K wide angle video. The Orbit360 takes a microSD card up to 128GB.

Insta360 Air

Insta360 is a company only committed to one thing… 360 moments. They’re not holding themselves to units like the Kodak above though. They’re keen to add 360 to your current phone.

The 360 Air is the newest of the range and is still running on Indiegogo. Weighing in at 26g this little 360 camera is still capable of 3K video support however the benefit Insta360 cameras have is live video. With the 360 Air you can take your surrounds online and live on Periscope or Facebook Live. The 360 Air is for Android with MicoUSB or USB Type C. This camera can also be used via a USB cable on your computer too.

Insta360 Nano

Not to be left out, the iPhone is also capable of having a 360 camera fitted to it. Called the Insta 360 Nano this model connects to the Lightning Port on your iPhone. The camera product is much larger than the Air and that is because of the battery required inside the Nano.

An 800mAh battery sits behind your upside down iPhone housing the dual camera lenses with it. It will work with the iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone 6s/6s Plus and iPhone 7/7 Plus. Insta360 sell this one via Amazon for less than $200.
