Gamevice is the mobile gaming controller you never knew you needed

Mobile gaming used to be the poor cousin to console and PC gaming, but these days there are some top titles for you to play on your tablet and phone.

But accurate controls have always been an issue. For a lot of action and arcade style games touchscreen controls can be clunky and inaccurate. Gamevice offers a more satisfying sense of control.

It’s only for iOS devices, specifically the iPhone, the iPad Mini, the iPad Air and, believe it or not, the 12.9 inch iPad Pro. It clamps on either side of the screen — like a vice, one might say — and uses the Lightning port so you don’t have to much around with Bluetooth connections.

Control-wise you’ve got the lot:

  • Dual Analog Joysticks
  • A,B,X,Y Buttons
  • D-Pad
  • R1, L1 Bumpers
  • R2, L2 Triggers
  • Plus a menu button and headphone jack.

Gamevice also have an app called Gamevice Live that’ll list all the compatible games — around 870 at the moment. I had a quick play with racing game and the controls were smooth and the design and  build felt high quality. Overall it felt like a well made gaming controller.

It’s available now and you can actually grab it off the Apple store. It’s going to cost you $149.99 no matter which size you’re buying.
