Linksys launches full home WiFi system Velop: Fast speeds across the network

When the internet coming into your home is lightning fast the last thing you want out in the man cave or far end of the house is crappy speeds because of your WiFi network – enter the latest style of home network called Mesh WiFi and Linksys has joined the party with Velop.

Announced at CES here in Las Vegas, Velop uses the new mesh network technology to power not just one but multiple “nodes” in your home on a single network, rather than adding WiFi range extenders to the far reaches of the home.

Each “node” is a tri-band AC2200 device which is both a router, range extender, access point and bridge meaning it’s future proof for all your networking needs.

Configuration is done using the Linksys app, which uses Bluetooth to communicate between your device and the node for setup, with the app then becoming used for WiFi management for things like guest access, device prioritisation and parental controls.

Belkin founder and CEO Chet Pipkin says this is exactly why he purchased Linksys three years ago “I had a vision of solving a huge problem in almost everyone’s life, slow and unreliable Wi-Fi,  Linksys has always been pioneers in home networking and I knew this was the team that could innovate and deliver the ultimate Wi-Fi experience.  Velop is a union of performance, design, and ease-of-use and provides what everyone wants – seamless, reliable Wi-Fi.  Linksys has set the bar for true mesh networking systems.”

In Australia, the relevance of the NBN roll out hitting its straps is timely for Linksys “If you are upgrading to the NBN broadband network, then you want to make sure you get that speed in every corner of your house”, said Greg Morrison, ANZ Country Manager at Linksys.

Velop from Linksys will be available in Australia as a 1-pack ($299.95), 2-pack ($589.95) and 3-pack (749.95) in April.
