Stan’s the man for Hisense TVs

Hisense’s press conference at CES 2017 was understandably focussed on North America. Although the company’s president Liu Hongxin quickly noted the success they’re having in Australia with the TV, it was the big changes in the US that he lingered on.

But that doesn’t mean there’s not great news for Aussies when it comes to Hisense. Starting this year, the Stan video-on-demand app will make its way to Hisense’s TV range. It’s going to be on all the new models and even a select range of 2016 and 2015 TVs will get the upgrade.

It’s good news but it’s even better news for anyone buying a new Hisense this year. Announced at CES was the update to the Smart TV platform, VIDAA U, which will tweak the interface a little but vastly speed up how quickly apps load. In fact that Stan app will be up and running in just 2 seconds on the new models. And the platform itself will be ready to use just 3 seconds after you turn on the TV.

Hisense also flagged its commitment to working with Quantum Dot technology for LED TVs. Saying that the Hisense proprietary ULED technology was a “perfect match” for Quantum Dots, consumers were told to look out for the combination in 2019.

A little closer in terms of timing is the news that Hisense is working closely with THX to get new TVs sets THX Certified, which is a hallmark of top quality home AV equipment.
