Put your Face on the gates of Luna Park: Samsung bring AR Emoji’s to VIVID Sydney

Samsung has tonight announced they are joining Vivid Sydney as an Official Partner and as with all corporate sponsors they’ve found a way to add to the light festival and cross promote their own products, using Samsung Galaxy S9 devices to change the face of Luna Park.

The iconic smiling face over the gates of Luna Park hasn’t changed much over the years – but thanks to digital projection Samsung is going to put your face up in lights!

Participants will use Samsung’s installation at Vivid Sydney to create their own AR Selfie emoji using a Galaxy S9 device, and moments later it will appear above the gates of Luna Park.

Samsung’s main activation for Vivid will take place on the Opera House Forecourt, called “The Night. Reimagined” it’s described as “an epic two-storey, 9-shaped labyrinth, featuring two kilometres of LED strip lights within a spiralling aperture structure.”

Throughout the installation participants will learn about the AR Emoji’s and Slow-mo features on the Samsung S9 and S9+.

Garry McGregor, Vice President of IT and Mobile, Samsung Australia said, “Samsung is all about creating epic moments that use our technology to defy barriers and to do things they never thought possible.

“There’s no better place to showcase the power of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ than at one of Australia’s largest and most exciting events: Vivid Sydney. What we’re doing at Luna Park and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt is truly unique and I encourage everyone to come and experience it for themselves.”

Ignatius Jones, Creative Director for Vivid Sydney said, “It won’t be long before Vivid Sydney attendees get to make history by becoming the new faces of Sydney’s iconic Luna Park. Vivid Sydney is about finding new ways for technology, art and innovation to gloriously come together, and with this installation, Samsung has really delivered.”

It all kicks off on Friday 25 May and runs until 16 June.
