The ultimate notch in the belt for the motoring world is to own the fasted time around the Nurburgring in Germany. 6.44.97 minutes is all it took for the new V12 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ to travel 20.6km. The new flagship is on the way to Australia and with a limited run of just 900 units, prices are as red hot as the lap itself.
“The Aventador SVJ is an innovative car and represents the absolute pinnacle of our super sports car product range,” said Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Stefano Domenicali. “The challenge to Lamborghini designers and engineers was to improve the purest essence of the Lamborghini super sports car, drawing on every inspiration from a space ship to a jet fighter: all the most exceptional examples of super-fast, super-athletic, aerodynamic superiority. The Aventador SVJ takes another step into the future, shaping the potential for super sports car development.”
Spaceship? Well with 566kW and 720Nm there’s a good chance of at the very least defying gravity. The SVJ has the most powerful production V12 ever placed in a Lamborghini which is why it can catapult to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds. In fact, it will hit 200km/h in 8.6 seconds and go from 100km/h to 0 in just 30 metres.
Some serious aerodynamic work was needed to be carried out to keep the SVJ on the pavement. It’s wider with a new front bumper and integrated side fins. A tri-dimensional air outlet on the bonnet directs airflow, improving drag and downforce. All this work sucks the Aventador to the ground with 70 per cent greater force.
There’s a revised suspension package and new Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres wrapped around Super-light ‘Nireo’ aluminium rims.
Lamborghini say the Aventador SVJ is a driver-focused car, with Lamborghini’s three driving modes, Strada, Sport and Corsa, as well as the EGO option allowing the driver to further customise car set-up. Amazingly Apple CarPlay comes as an option free of charge, something Ferrari can charge north of $6000 for!
The first customers will take delivery of the new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ at the beginning of 2019 with Australian prices set at $949,640 before on roads!!
