Kayo launches on Telstra TV – Telstra customers billed to accounts

It’s a big week for Kayo, today their app launches on Telstra TV with the announcement of a Telco partnership with the Big T.

As part of the “Exclusive telco partnership” Telstra customers can pay for a Kayo subscription by adding it to their broadband or post-paid mobile account making sign up a breeze.

Michael Ackland, Group Executive, Telstra Consumer & Small Business is pleased to offer customers this service “Our customers are passionate about their sports and already stream up to 40 million minutes of AFL, NRL, Netball and A-League action in a single weekend. The introduction of Kayo through our partnership with Foxtel gives customers even more choice to add-on the best sports content to enjoy at home on Telstra TV or on the go using Australia’s best mobile network.”

It’s an interesting one, given Telstra themselves make AFL and NRL available through an app and paid subscription each year – in fact it’s the one service most likely to suffer from Kayo’s introduction – so this partnership seems to make sense, ensuring Telstra retains that customer contact point.

Julian Ogrin, Kayo Sports CEO, said: “With the biggest Aussie sports and best from overseas plus game changing features, Kayo will provide a sports streaming experience like no other. Our partnership with Telstra will deliver Kayo into more homes, and into the hands of more sports loving fans. We can’t wait for them to try it.”

Telstra customers can use the Kayo app on Telstra TV from today.
