IFA isn’t really a ‘mobile’ show, but there are mobile launches and LG is along for the ride announcing the ‘dual-screen’ LG G8X as a successor to the LG G8.
The design of the phone is similar to the LV V50 with the G8X fitting into a ‘display’ case to turn the phone into a dual-screen device. LG has improved the design of the dual-screen adding a second 2.1-inch monochrome display in the top front panel which will display time, date, battery charge, notifications and other useful information all without opening the dual screens.
The LG G8X has a 6.4-inch FullVision display that includes an in-display fingerprint sensor and a tear-drop notch for the camera, but weirdly there’s a matching tear-drop notch on the secondary display but no camera.
The G8X is powerful with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU, 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage and a microSD card slot to expand it further. It should last all day on the 4,000mAh battery as well.
LG has included dual 12MP and 13MP sensors on the G8x, with the secondary sensor behind a Super Wide 136˚ lens, while on the front, a 32MP selfie cam will show everything.
Of course no LG phone is complete without some great audio and the G8x is no different. The phone has dual 1.2W speakers powered by a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC tuned by Meridian Audio.
LG hasn’t announced availability for the G8X in Australia, but they will begin shipping it to market in Q4 this year. If it does arrive in Australia we’ll let you know.
