How much will the Mercedes-Benz electric EQC cost Australians? – Pricing revealed

Electric now has a Mercedes, that was the line being trotted out in Sweden on September 5 last year as we attended the global launch. But in the back of our minds it was also a case of “Tell us the price son!”.  Well now we can, The Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 4MATIC will be priced from $137,900, before on-roads and options.

It’s due to arrive in local showrooms shortly, in fact Aussies will be some of the first in the world to get their hands on one. Mercedes-Benz Australia-Pacific CEO and Managing Director Horst von Sanden said,

“The EQC is a game-changer for Mercedes-Benz, but also it imposes a more luxurious standard of electric vehicle ownership,”

“Our aim has never been to be the first to this market, but to offer the most complete solution possible to the question of future mobility. With the all-electric EQC, we are confident we have done just that. Electric now has a Mercedes.”

You can read our initial impressions from last year here. But the new electric Merc will have a range of 434km under the Australia Design Rules (ADR) or 417km via the World harmonised light-duty vehicles test procedure (WLTP), which I lean towards. Charging options include free and unlimited fast charging for the first five years of ownership at Chargefox ultra-rapid charging stations.

EQC owners can also purchase the optional Mercedes-Benz Wallbox Home. Using regular single-phase power up to 7.4kW, the Benz Wallbox Home adds approximately 15km extra range in 30 minutes.

The Wallbox Home is capable of three-phase power to deliver approximately 22kW AC. Then there is always the very slow way, via an 8-metre cable and 240V socket.

The EQC’s maximum DC charging rate is 110kW, meaning a 30 minute wait time for about 220km at a Chargefox ultra-rapid station.

Option packages include The Edition 1 package, limited to just 25 of the first EQC customers. It adds 21-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, two-tone designo Nappa leather with diamond-stitched platinum white pearl inserts, climatised front seats, tri-zone THERMOTRONIC climate control, MBUX navigation with augmented reality, and ‘Edition 1’ badging on the B-pillar. It will set those lucky 25 back $6,900 if you choose Graphite Grey metallic paintwork, or $8,600 in designo Diamond White paint.

Why the colour matters I’ll never know.

The Electric Art Line package comes in at $5,900 and adds top stitching in rose gold, dashboard with fine surface texture in metallic silver grey and topstitching in rose gold. Other niceties include an ENERIZING PACKAGE PLUS wellness program, AIR-BALANCE ioniser, multi-contour front seats featuring adjustable bolsters and massage function, climatised front seats, and a choice of leather finishes.

How lovely.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 4MATIC goes on sale December 9th. Deliveries will commence in early 2020.
