Panasonic withdraws from the Aussie TV market

In a sign of just how tough, and competitive the TV market is in Australia, Panasonic have today announced they’re pulling the pin on Australia as a TV brand.

They’ll still be in Australia with their other products like cameras and air conditioning but for TV’s their time is up.

Managing Director of Panasonic Australia Paul Reid says “in light of current local market conditions and to allow the company to focus on other established and emerging areas of the business.”

He went on to say “Our current range of high-quality television models will continue to be sold via retailers in Australia while stocks last. Panasonic Australia will also continue to provide customer service to all owners of its television products. We will always put our customers first and provide the highest level of support.”

And that means deals deals deals, so keep your eye out for some cracking clearance deals over the coming weeks.

Panasonic’s Aussie business will continue with audio, video and LUMIX camera products, as well as personal care, kitchen appliances and air conditioning.

The company also just recently re-launched the Technics audio brand in Australia so that goes on.

This just shows how competitive the big guys are at the top of the TV market, but also how hard it is at the middle to bottom end with so many brands competing on price.
