Amazon Prime Video now open to all Aussies to rent or buy new release and blockbuster movies

Amazon is expanding their digital video streaming service today, announcing the Prime Video Store is now available to all Australians, where they will be able to rent or buy new release and blockbuster movies.

The new store is different to the Prime Video included with your Amazon Prime subscription. To start with you don’t need to be an Amazon Prime Video subscriber, it’s open to anyone. There’s also no TV shows as yet, just a big range of both local and US content from big name studios like Disney, Warner Bros., NBCUniversal, Sony, Paramount and Lionsgate.

Amazon is coming out swinging on pricing for the launch, with deals like Avengers Endgame in HD, Bohemian Rhapsody starring Oscar winner Rami Malek in UHD, or you can catch the latest Rowan Atkinson movie – Johnny English Strikes Again, also in UHD quality – available to buy for just $14.99 each.

There’s all these recent release titles to check out, but you can also see all your old favourites with a large range of categories like Sci-fi, Comedy, Adventure, Drama, Horror – you get the picture.

Mike Hopkins, SVP Amazon Prime Video & Amazon Studios said of the launch in Australia today ‘We’ve seen how much our customers enjoy the large selection of new release movies available to rent or buy on the Prime Video Store in the US, UK, Germany and Japan, so we’re delighted to roll this service out in France, Italy, Spain, Canada and Australia today. The Prime Video Store brings all Amazon customers the newest releases and blockbuster movies available to rent or buy from top US and local studios, adding to the great range of entertainment already available through Prime Video with a Prime membership.

To see what’s available you can check out all the movies on the primevideo.com website, or you can download the Prime Video app on Android or iOS and peruse the movies there.
