Ford offering “touchless service” with car pickup and drop off from home during COVID-19 emergency

We’re stuck at home, but we’re allowed to drive to work, or the shops – so what happens if your car is due for a service, or has a fault?

Car Service centres are still open, so that begs the next question – how can that be done safely.

Ford Australia has announced a new “Pickup and Drop Off service” where customers get a complimentary vehicle pickup from your home.

Ford Australia boss Kay Hart says “The Ford Pick Up and Drop Off Service provides our service customers the reassurance they can get necessary vehicle work completed without leaving home, and the peace of mind that their vehicle is disinfected afterwards,”

“We’re pleased to be working with our dealers to find ways to ensure customers can continue to enjoy uninterrupted and safe services during this time.”

This is happening through to June 30 (initially), and includes the pickup and drop off, but also disinfection of key touchpoints and a variety of cashless payment options.

This major touch points include:

  • All exterior and interior door handles
  • Steering wheel (including buttons)
  • Centre console
  • Gear Shifter/Selector (dial or handle)
  • Park brake handle
  • Radio/HVAC areas
  • Touchscreen
  • Start/Stop button
  • Driver’s door armrest and centre console
  • Window/seat/mirror controls
  • Rear view mirror
  • Seatbelt buckle and anchor 
  • Rear boot lid tailgate button/handle
  • Bonnet and latch
  • Fuel door
  • Key fob

Good move, keeping cars up to scratch, and car dealers in business.
