Sony shows off their new range of wireless speakers and a new soundbar

Sony has today unveiled a new range of wireless speakers that have gone on-sale in Australia today, as well as a new 3.1 ch Soundbar with Dolby Atmos support.

Priced at $899, the  HT-G700 is a 3.1ch soundbar with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support which Sony says can produce the effect of 7.1.2 channel surround sound. The soundbar can even attempt to upscale regular stereo audio to 7.1.2ch sound.

The effect of surround sound is thanks to the three front-facing speakers which ‘enables sound placements that can envelop you in all directions’.

Sony says the HT-G700 will go on-sale in Australia in June.

The wireless speaker range includes three models:

• SRS-XB23 SRP: $199. Available in Blue, Black, Coral and Taupe.
• SRS-XB33 SRP: $299. Available in Blue, Black, Red and Taupe.
• SRS-XB43 SRP: $399. Available in Blue, Black and Taupe.

All three models are ruggedised, with IP67 dust/water protection including protection from both rust and salt water, a nice bonus often not covered by other manufacturers. 

The speakers all include Sony’s improved EXTRA BASS technology for those deeper, richer tones. The speakers all feature the new Side Passive radiators which Sony says has ‘been optimised across all three models to reproduce clear bass sound’.

If you match the SRS-XB43, SRS-XB33, SRS-XB23 wireless speakers up, you can also connect these new models together so they sync both lights and sounds for a massive party mode.

Sony has also just introduced USB-C support with these new models so you’ll be able to charge with just one cable if you need to.

At the lower end of the range, the Sony XB23 includes a 12-hour battery life, and a new form factor that lets you sit it in a backpack pocket or the cup holder of your chair for easy access.

Moving up to the SRS-XB33 and SRS-XB43, this is where the party starts with integrated gmulti-colour line, tweeter and speaker lighting that can sync with your music for a big light show. 

Both the XB33 and XB43 come with up to 24 hours of battery liffe, and the option to plug in a cable and charge devices if you need a top up.

At the top of the line, the XB43 does have improved features which includes ‘an X-Balanced Speaker Unit with an almost rectangular diaphragm. They combine a woofer for low-mid frequencies with a tweeter for the higher end to complete a big full sound.

Sony has said that they’re making the three speakers available from June, so get ready to party.
