First Impressions:

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Volkswagen products – I’ve owned tonnes of them. My first was a little SEAT Ibiza. Trev and I both had one! We were totally smitten with the balance of a tight chassis and good build quality. This little Tiguan is no different. I really like it. Being the ‘poverty pack’ you get everything you need and nothing you want, and since when has that been a problem. 

Tech Inside:

Even though the Trendline is the entry into the Tiguan line-up, the included tech is actually pretty good: cruise, heated mirrors, driver fatigue monitoring, city brake, lane assist, park assist, pedestrian monitoring and rear camera with dynamic guidance. If you want more, VW is happy to meet your needs… for more cash. For $51k, the Tiguan Highline gives you more of everything – more tech, more power, more style.  

Most Impressive:

I think what I most like about the Tiguan is how Golf-like it is. Obviously, the Tiguan is based on the Golf platform, but the transformation from hatchback to SUV has granted more space (albeit, not much more) with no loss of dynamic ability or driving feel (mostly).  

Not So Impressive :

Which is exactly what’s least impressive about the Tiguan. I just don’t know why you wouldn’t buy a Golf. Like for like, the Golf is better value, drives better, and is more efficient.

I know the Tiguan is bigger, but I’m just not sold on the SUV concept. If you are, get a Tiguan – is DON, is good.
