With digital frames, and even TVs showing our digital photos we still love to have beautiful, framed prints around the house – that’s where Epson’s new A3+ SureColor P706 and A2+ SureColor P906 desktop photo printers come in, launching in Australia in July.

The printers are 30% smaller than the previous generation and both use a new 10-channel MicroPiezo print-head which offer extremely precise control over droplet size and placement. The print-head includes dedicated channels for both Photo and Matte Black ink types including the new UltraChrome PRO10 pigment ink with Violet.

Why violet? Well, it gives a replacement for light, light black so a wider variety of shades, Epson also says they can offer ‘improved vivid colour prints with breathtaking blues and violets’, thanks to the violet ink.

Both printers support an extremely wide colour gamut and use a revised Advanced Black and White Mode for creating professional black and white photographs and exhibition quality prints from the convenience of your desktop.

The printers both feature a 4.3-inch customisable touchscreen and support for 5GHz Wi-Fi, and theres an interior LED light so you can check out the prints in progress.

The SureColor P706 uses both roll and cut sheet media, while the SureColor P906 uses cut sheet media as well as the option to use a fully enclosed roll media adapter which supports both 2-inch and 3-inch rolls and roll printing up to -18m long.

As well as beautiful prints, Epson is also now offering iOS the option to easily print directly from their iPhone and iPad, with an updated mobile version of Epson Print Layout software, which includes full support and colour management tools.

The SureColor P706 will be priced at RRP $1,295 while the SureColor P906 will be priced at RRP $1,995. The printers will be available from July on the Epson website and through Epson Authorised Resellers across Australia.
