Ford’s mobile app connect system FordPass is now available in Australia with the new Ford Ranger, Everest and Transit the first to receive this advanced connectivity feature.

While existing Ford owners can access the App, it’s only used for communications between the owner and Ford, allowing a look at service history, service bookings, contacting Ford help or getting Recall alerts.

However the app comes into it’s own when paired with a new Ford vehicle with FordPass Connect enabled.

This means the car has a built in modem for constant connectivity, allowing your app to communicate with the car no matter if it’s out the front in the driveway or your wife has it at work or down at the shops.

Through FordPass Connect users can lock and unlock doors – handy if someone calls saying they’ve lost their keys, and even start the car remotely, allowing the engine to warm up and climate control to settle before you get back on a hot or cold day.

Vehicle location is available in real-time so you can see how far away your teenager has taken the car, and there’s also alerts re the status of the vehicle from fuel levels to tyre pressures.

Kay Hart, Aussie Ford CEO says “FordPass Connect is another way we’re bringing smart, simple-to-use real-world technology into the hands of Ford owners and their families,”

“FordPass Connect makes life simpler and easier, and as our best-selling vehicles in Australia, we’ve chosen Ranger, Everest and Transit as the first to offer this innovative technology as standard.”

Live traffic updates are also part of the FordConnect system, allowing the in-built Sat Nav in Sync 3 to get real-time info and hopefully guide you around any problems on the road.

Ford hopes to achieve FordPass Connect inclusion in their full model line-up by early 2021, with new Ford Ranger, Everest and Transit models getting the hardware from this month.
