Stressed? Problem solved as Fitbit announces new Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 smart fitness watches

Fitbit is making a play to be the smartest of all the smart watches with an advanced new wearable – the Fitbit Sense, along with an updated Versa and a goal to be seen as the total health wearable.

The Fitbit Sense features the world’s first electrodermal activity sensor (EDA) on a smartwatch and while there are a host of new capabilities, the Sense has over six days battery life.

On this one device you’ll get heart-rate tracking, a new ECG app (not yet approved for Australia by regulators), and an on-wrist skin temperature sensor.

It’s that EDA sensor that is most unique though. Using the on-board EDA Scan app, you place your palm over the face of the watch and any small electrical changes in the sweat level of your skin will be measured.

This is all about measuring your body’s response to stressors – and therefore helping you manage your stress.

The aim of which is to measure and gauge your emotional progress over time.

And there’s also a solid revenue stream planned, with Fitbit premium offering more tracking, like heart rate variability, breathing rate and more along with a new Health Metrics dashboard.

The Fitbit sense will sell in Australia for $499.95, and it comes with 6 months of Fitbit Premium.

Additionally, a new version of the Versa will hit Australia at $399.95

For the extra $100 over the Versa 2, you’ll get Google Assistant as well as Alexa, Pace and Distance with built in GPS, Fast Charging, an “infinity band”, and the ability to take Bluetooth calls right from your wrist.

These two, along with other new updates join the existing Fitbit lineup to strengthen the brands presence in the wearable space.
