Jabra has unveiled the next generation of their popular Truly Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds with the Jabra Elite 85t announced overnight. As well as new buds, Jabra has announced that Active Nosie Cancellation will be coming to the Elite 75t earbuds via software update.
The Jabra Elite 85t will arrive with two major new features, Jabra Advanced Active Noise Cancellation and wireless charging.
Inside the 85t earbuds are six microphones which counter background noise on calls, with four of those mics used for the Active Noise Canceling feature. To further enhance ANC Jabra has also included a dedicated chip which lets you adjust ANC between 11 levels of intensity from full ANC, through to hear through mode.
Jabra is also introducing a “semi-open design” to minimise the “earplug effect” and allows for natural audio pass-through when you want it. The ear tips are now oval in design and don’t sit as deeply in your ear for improved comfort.
You can expect ‘big sound and powerful bass’ from the Jabra Elite 85t thanks to 12-millimeter drivers and the IPX4 rating means you can sweat up a storm in the gym without any issues.
The Advanced ANC in the Elite 85t doesn’t affect battery life too much with the buds rated at up to 5.5 hours of continuous listening with ANC, with up to 25 hours with the case (31 hours without ANC). The case too supports Qi charging now, so you can just leave it on a charging pad on your desk.
Jabra 75t ANC Update
For Jabra 75t and Jabra 75t Active owners, the update including Active Noise Cancellation will arrive in October. It’s not the Advanced ANC that the 85t will have at launch, with Jabra describing it as ‘standard’.
Jabra worked with Qualcomm to enable the ANC on the 75t line, making them the first company to deliver ANC on an existing true wireless product line.
