Beats Flex premium wireless earphones now available to pre-order for $79.95

Beats have announced their latest set of premium wireless earphones, with the Beats Flex now available to pre-order.

The Beats Flex fill the niche left by the Beats X earbuds, though they jump from 8-hour to a 12-hour battery life and have a new ‘proprietary layered driver with dual-chamber acoustics to achieve rich, balanced sound with outstanding stereo separation’ says Beats.

Like the Beats X, the Beats Flex attach using a ‘Flex-Form’ cable attaching the magnetic buds, which can drape around your neck when not in use. Beats have improved upon this by adding a Play/Pause function that will pause your audio when the buds are magnetically attached, and resume when you put them back in your ears.

The Beats Flex include the Apple W1 chip, which allows for instant pairing with iPhones and iPads. There’s also a built-in microphone to help reduce wind noise and on-device controls for volume as well as to help you manage music, take calls, or activate voice assistant.

Beats have adopted USB-C charging for the Beats Flex, which they say ‘provides a single charging solution across both Apple and Android platforms’. The USB-C charging can also give you up to 1.5 hours of listening time with just 10-minutes charge.

It’s a timely announcement from the Apple subsidiary, with Apple announcing this morning that their latest iPhone/iPhone Pro range would no longer come with earbuds (or charging brick) in a bid to cut carbon emissions. Most customers have a preferred set of buds anyway, so doing away with the – usually fairly rudimentary – buds included by default will cut a lot of unwanted waste.

Priced at $79.95, Beats Flex will ship in four colours, Beats Black, Yuzu Yellow, Smoke Grey and Flame Blue— with Beats Black and Yuzu Yellow available for pre-order beginning today (and shipping October 21) at apple.com.
