The Ultimate Outdoor Entertaining Setup: Samsung Terrace TV Review

Entertaining at home doesn’t mean you have to be stuck indoors. If you’ve got a great outdoor entertainment area that should be where you spend your time, enjoying the Aussie weather with your friends and family.

If it’s time for the footy or cricket or perhaps everyone wants to watch a movie you can either move inside, or have a TV installed outside so the party can stay where it is.

Putting a TV outside isn’t as easy as it sounds. A conventional TV designed for the indoors may not be able to withstand the outdoor elements. Dust, wind and even insects can cause problems you might not expect.

And if you’re trying to watch TV outside the biggest thing you need to contend with is the bright sun. Glare on your TV may have you struggle to see the picture clearly, making the experience less than ideal.

Enter a TV built specifically for this occasion. The Samsung Terrace.

Not your average TV, the Terrace QLED Smart 4K TV is above average in many ways.

Firstly, the brightness of this screen means you can enjoy your sport or movie watching despite a sunny summer day. Offering a 4K resolution QLED display at 2,000 nits, the brightness is several times greater than a standard Samsung TV^. The brightness and contrast adjusts black levels for bold contrast, depth and detail, which helps you see all the action all through the day and night.

Then there’s the anti-glare technology which will help stop reflections and bright rays getting in the way of the action. It also has an IP55 rating to give it protection from the elements¹ that arise when having technology in an outdoor set up.*

As I approached The Samsung Terrace in a Bondi outdoor entertainment area with the morning sun lighting up the area, I was blown away by the picture. The brightness and picture clarity was enough to make me stop in my tracks.

My own snap on a smartphone of the Terrace in the morning light – the picture was stunning and bright.

Sitting at virtually any angle, the picture popped from the screen, not a hint of glare – I’ve not really seen anything like it.

I couldn’t help standing there, staring at the TV thinking about having mates around to watch Bathurst, or the Footy Finals, or have people round for a movie night.

Press the home button on the remote (which is also weather resistant²) and you’ve got the standard Samsung Smart TV interface, with the apps you know, the menu system Samsung has mastered, and even the Ambient Mode for use when you’re not watching TV.

Impressive by every measure.

The Terrace starts at $5,999 RRP for the 55-inch model and goes up to 75 inch. There is also an equally outdoor-ready matching Terrace soundbar available too if you choose (sold separately).  The Terrace TV comes with a dust cover to further protect when not in use.
