LG announces updated Ultra series monitors at CES

LG has already announced their latest TV range, but they’re also market leaders in monitors and today they’ve unveiled their new range of Ultra Series monitors.

LG has three Ultra series displays in the range, the UltraFine, UltraWide and UltraGear, with the new monitors aimed at gamers, digital artists and technology professionals.

LG UltraGear Monitors

Starting with the UltraGear series gaming monitors, there are three models now available: 27GP950, 32GP850 and 34GP950G – which come in 27-inch, 31.5-inch and 34-inch sizes. LG says the monitors use Nano IPS panels, with 1 millisecond Gray-to-Gray (GTG) response.

LG says the 27GP950 will offer gamers the advantage of HDMI 2.1 with support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and comes with an impressive 144Hz refresh rate at 3440 x 1440 resolution.

The 32GP850 is a 31.5-inch Quad High Definition (QHD) resolution panel with ultra-high speed 165Hz refresh rate which is overclockable to 180Hz and is also NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible. The 32GP850 also gets HDR 10 compatability.

The 34GP950G is a 34-inch, 21:9 aspect ratio UltraWide QHD Nano IPS display with 144Hz refresh rate (overclockable to 180Hz). Gamers will be pleased to see support for NVIDIA G-SYNC ULTIMATE, which LG says provides ‘excellent picture quality with minimised visual stuttering and tearing for the most immersive gaming experience.’

LG has also announced a new 40-inch curved UltraWide monitor, the 40WP95C.

The monitor has a 40-inch curved Nano IPS panel with 5K2K UltraWide (5,120 x 2,160) resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio. The quality sounds spot on with LG saying the monitor has ’98 percent (typical) coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and 135 percent of the sRGB color space’ there’s also support for HDR 10.

The monitor also has an ergonomically designed stand with full tilt, height and swivel adjustment options.

For their UltraFine model, you get a 31.5-inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) OLED panel with 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

The panel is colour accurate covering 99 percent (typical) of both the DCI-P3 and the Adobe RGB color space says LG.

There’s plenty of ports included on the monitor including a USB Type-C with 90W Charging. There’s also dual DisplayPort, a HDMI port and three USB ports on board.
