Netgear introduce new mobile 4G and 5G solutions, coming to Australia this year

After 2020 the way we work may well be never the same. There will undoubtedly be less time in an actual office and more time at home, the coffee shop, or in the park getting work done. To help those who work away from a reliable wired Internet connection Netgear have introduced some new 4G and 5G solutions at CES this week.

The two new mobile products are the Nighthawk 4G LTE WiFi 6 Router (LAX20) and the Netgear 4G LTE Modem LM1200. In addition to these new products they have announced that their Nighthawk M5 5G Mobile Router is now available worldwide.

Netgear LAX20 and WiFi 6

The advanced WiFi 6 supported by the Netgear LAX20 router is capable of delivering 1.8Gbps speeds with an increased capacity to handle more connected devices — ideal for the home or a busy workplace where wired Internet options are either not available nor reliable.

The LAX20 comes equipped with added security in the form of Netgear Armor which offers “advanced cyber threat protection for the home network and all connected devices”.

Netgear LM1200, the more affordable option

The Netgear LM1200 modem also uses the 4G LTE networks promising a reliable connection when wired connections are not available nor reliable. It can be connected to a WiFi router or into a mesh solution to offer more connectivity to your home.

Netgear Nighthawk M5 5G Mobile Router, one with the lot

The Nighthawk M5 5G Mobile Router has been available in Australia for a while now and is available exclusively through Telstra. It not only offers a connection to 5G networks but also WiFi 6 capabilities.

Its size and flexibility make it perfect for working on the road, or anywhere your heart desires and its speed offers the opportunity to use its WiFi for anything you want — gaming, 4K video streaming etc.

It has added ports such as a gigabit Ethernet port and an external antenna port giving the option to improve the signal if required. The Ethernet port can be used to connect the M5 Mobile router to an existing home router offering high speeds and uninterrupted Internet.

The router is battery powered and is rated to last 13 hours on a single charge but can also be powered directly from the power outlet if you are home or in the office.

Trevor currently has a Netgear Nighthawk M5 5G Mobile Router and is using it as his connection to the Telstra 5G network at the Star hotel in Sydney for CES2021 — keep an eye out for the review coming soon!

With so many people working in different locations now Netgear have a solution for everyone. The Nighthawk M5 is available now through Telstra, the LM1200 4G LTE modem will be available later in the year in Q3 while the LAX20 4G LTE WiFi 6 Router will be available this quarter. Prices are yet to be revealed.

EFTM’s Coverage of CES 2021 is supported by Hisense, Samsung and Powered by Telstra 5G
