Amazon is set to take home entertainment to a new level in Australia with the launch of a new range of Fire TV hardware including the Fire TV 4K, Fire TV and Alexa voice remote. 

Today’s announcement sees the long awaited launch of the Fire TV Stick 4K in Australia, alongside the Fire TV and Alexa Voice remote which, Amazon announced during their hardware event in September last year.

The Amazon Fire TV experience offers access to Amazon Prime Video, with access to over 200,000 movies and TV shows, as well as a wide range of content from games and apps, through to streaming video from Netflix, Stan, YouTube, Disney+, ABC iView, 10 Play.

The new range includes the new Fire TV UI announced alongside their hardware, which Amazon says is ‘more intuitive, simple, and customized experience.

Alexa Voice Remote

As part of the launch, Amazon unveiled the new Alexa Voice Remote featuring dedicated buttons for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Amazon Music, along with the power, volume, and mute buttons, and the ability to use voice commands to find and control content. 

The Alexa Voice Remote is able to control all your compatible TV and AV devices, letting you reduce the amount of remotes around your living room.

Amazon says the new Alexa Voice Remote is compatible with the Fire TV Stick Lite and Fire TV Stick Basic Edition and sells for $54 separately, or you’ll find one included with the new Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick.

Fire TV Stick 4K

Headlining the new range is the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, which, as the name suggests supports 4K Ultra HD Quality streams with support for Dolby Vision, HDR and HDR10+ as well as Dolby Atmos.

The Fire TV Stick 4K will sell for $99 and include the new Alexa Voice Remote,

If you don’t need 4K streaming, then the Amazon Fire TV Stick will offer Full HD streaming with support for 60fps HDR quality video and Dolby Atmos audio. 

Amazon has updated the internals on the Amazon Fire TV Stick for the launch here, with a new and improved hardware stack starting with a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, and dual-band, dual-antenna Wifi with 5GHz support to improve wireless streaming.

The new Fire TV Stick will sell for $79 and ships with all-new Alexa Voice Remote.

Pre-orders for the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick and Alexa Voice Remote are live now on with shipping beginning from April 21st. 

As Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) rises in popularity in Australia, these new devices will offer customers some more choice in what they use to view their content. The new Amazon Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K and Alexa Voice remote are available for pre-order from today on and will begin shipping to customers on April 21.
