LG C1 and G1 series OLED TVs are getting Dolby Vision HDR support at 4K/120Hz

In the gaming world, it’s all about the fastest and best, and of course who gets there first. LG has announced they’re the first TV manufacturer to update their TVs to offer Dolby Vision HDR at 4K 120Hz.

The LG C1 and G1 series OLED TVs will receive a firmware update (03.15.27) switching on the coveted support.

LG says that ‘Additional premium models’ which includes the OLED Z1 TV and QNED Mini LED QNED99 TVs models from the 2021 LG TV line up will begin receiving the update from July. There’s good news for other LG TV owners with LG advising that more 2021 and 2020 TV models also being tested for Dolby Vision gaming in either 60Hz or 120Hz.

LG says that Dolby Vision HDR at 4K 120 Hz will be available on ‘certain gaming platforms’. The only console to so far support Dolby Vision is the Xbox Series X|S, with Microsoft switching on support in May. Sony has so far not announced Dolby Vision support, though the PS5 supports HDR10.

.

Also being introduced in the update is Game Dashboard, a floating menu that offers quick access to TV settings, as well as check the status of Black Stabiliser, Low Latency, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and NVIDIA G-Sync.

LG says the update is rolling out now, so you should see it on your TV shortly.
