The annual iPhone photography award winners have been announced, with Aussies taking some big wins on the global stage in what is a hotly contested competition with some truly stunning photos.
The Grand Prize Winner and Photographer of the Year Award goes to photojournalist Istvan Kerekes of Hungary for this image, titled Transylvanian Shepherds (shot on iPhone 7)
Using an iPhone X, Sharan Shetty of India won First Place Photographer of the Year with this image:
The Second Place winner is Dan Liu of China and this untitled image (shot on iPhone 11 Pro Max) of an astronaut traversing a desolate Martian-esque landscape
Third Place goes to Jeff Rayner of Los Angeles for this photo:
Side-Walking on Air (shot on iPhone X), a portrait of a young girl aloft and weightless in a pool of light on the sidewalk.
There were three Aussie photographers with award wins, and each also had notable mentions in categories too.
Glenn Homann from Ipswich, QLD took first place in the abstract category for this colourful architectural image.
He also takes second place in the environment category for a striking photo of plastic cups, and receives honourable mentions in the People, Portrait and Sunset categories. Glenn’s photos are shot on iPhone 11 Pro.
Christian Horgan from Fremantle, WA took first place in the Nature category for this image of a Waterlily, titled “Pondering The Positives.”
He also takes first place in the People category for his image titled “Black Summer Blue Montaigne. Christian’s photos are shot on iPhone X.
Theresa Lee from Sydney, NSW took third place in the Animals category for her image of a dog, titled “Hair Raising.”
She also received a honourable mention in the same category. Theresa’s photos are shot on iPhone XR.
