Dell updates their line-up of monitors for the professional at home: Just in time for all the lockdown extensions

I’m getting sick of beginning so many articles with a word on the pandemic but it is what it is and just as we have all pivoted to alter our behaviour due to COVID-19 so too have the tech manufacturers. Dell is one such company and has just refreshed their monitor line-up for those folks working from home.

Dell’s new monitors include a portable USB-C monitor, a couple of video conferencing monitors and a couple of USB-C monitors, all designed to help make our work from home lives easier.

Dell 14 Portable Monitor (C1422H)

Ina new addition to the Dell monitor family, the 14-inch portable monitor connects to your laptop or PC using USB-C. Weighing just over 500 grams and just over a centimetre thick at its thickest the Dell 14 portable monitor is certainly portable. With a 1080P (FHD) resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio it is a simple plug and play before you are up and running — whether it’s to present your monitor to someone with you or to extend or duplicate your PC/laptop monitor.

It has an adjustable tilt stand that bends all the way from 10 degrees upright all the way to totally flat at 90 degrees along with quick access buttons to adjust the brightness of it. Powered by the USB-C connectivity it will be available from August 31 with pricing yet to be confirmed. As someone who uses a cheap monitor as my second, extended monitor at home this is one I’ll be keeping a close eye on.

Dell 24 and 27 Video Conferencing Monitor (S2422HZ and S2722DZ)

Although Dell do sell a 4K webcam ideal for conferencing sometimes it is much easier to just have the webcam built into the monitor. For those who do a lot of online conferencing these two new monitors are ideal.

The 27-inch QHD and the 23.8-inch FHD monitors come with an easy out-of-box experience with a built in 5MP pop-up infra-red privacy camera, noise cancelling microphones and dual 5W speakers — perfect for the video call from home. The camera will only pop up when video conferencing begins, making it perfect for the privacy conscious.

The monitors have all your connectivity options including USB-C, HDMI and DP and are VESA mount compatible. For those who also want to use them for casual gaming, the 75Hz refresh rate alongside the AMD FreeSync technology will make that a decent experience. Both monitors will be available from 12 October 2021 with pricing yet to be announced.

Dell 27 4K UHD USB-C Monitor (S2722QC) and Dell 27 USB-C Monitor (S2722DC)

These more traditional monitors are not just USB-C connectable monitors but can also be connected using their SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps and HDMI ports. The 4K version has a 60Hz refresh rate while the S2722DC 2K version supports a 75Hz refresh rate.

The USB-C connectivity gives them the ability to deliver video, audio, and data while charging a laptop with up to 65 watts of power, offering up a clutter-free desk, free from all the cables we need these days to charge all of our devices. Both USB-C monitors are available now with the 4K S2722QC priced at RRP $649 and the 2K S2722DC at RRP $549.

If you are in the market for a new monitor why not check out the Dell website now, or later in October when they should all be launched here.
