At CES 2022 today LG has revealed their new TV models for 2022, headlined by their OLED TVs.  The new TVs bring an improved webOS interface offering full smart features and services and in improved imaging technologies.

The top of the range OLED models are the G2 series TVs, designed to be “the next step in OLED evolution”.  Powered by LGs new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 5 intelligent processor the Brightness Booster technology gives the G2 series the ability to deliver even more brightness with improved heat dissipation and an advanced algorithm.  The 2022 G2 series arrives in a new 83-inch model and the world’s first 97-inch OLED model in addition to the 55-, 65- and 77-inch models already in the lineup.

The G2 series also delivers a new design with an attractive “flush to the wall Gallery Design”.  The new 2022 C2 series models offers even more sizes – six in total – 42-, 48-, 55-, 65-, 77-, and 83-inches.  Although now a Gallery Design the C2 models offer thin bezels for that immersive viewing experience.

Upgraded UX

WebOS will also see an update for 2022 with user profiles now available so each user can enjoy a personalised experience with fast access to the services they use most as well as viewing history and real time alerts on favourite teams and more.

A big upgrade that may slide beneath the radar of many is the new Matter support.  The upgraded LG ThinQ AI now allows the TV to become a smart home hub and with Matter support will hopefully be at the forefront of smart home services in the years to come.

The new interface will also allow the 2022 LG models to easily switch between game-specific features and display presets directly from the TV’s Game Optimiser menu.  There is also a new sports mode for a graphics setup that provides for the best sports-gaming experience.

Improved Picture Quality

LG has improved the picture quality of already-impressive OLED panels with the 2022 OLED models with the new panels offering 100% colour fidelity, 100% colour volume, are certified flicker free and “discomfort glare-free”.  Add in their low blue light performance for eye protection and you have an impressive OLED panel.

It’s not all about the OLED

Alongside the OLED TVs LG has announced a new QNED TV lineup for 2022.  The new models offer even better colour reproduction with 100% colour volume and 100% colour consistency.  Keep an eye out for the LG QNED Mini LED TVs coming to Australia soon.

The interactive experience

Rounding out the announcements was LGs reveal of new services to provide a personal and interactive experience in the home.

The LIVENow app offers users access to online live concerts, shows, sports and other live events with an opportunity to actively participate in some events as well as watch.

The 1M HomeDance app teaches users their favourite K-Pop dance moves with the ability to also watch yourself in Camera Mode.  If watching is more your pace you can also just sit back and enjoy your favourite dance clips.

LG Fitness is a new app that aims to help users enjoy a healthier lifestyle at home through included workout plans based on the system’s recommendations.  You can also choose your own workouts from selections such as HIIT, full-body stretching, guided meditation and more.   The app will keep track of your activity and progress just as a phone app would.

At this stage Australian availability and pricing for LG’s 2022 models is unknown but we will let you know when LG Australia announces these.
