For a while now OPPO has had one of the best smartphone cameras available on the market with its implementation in their flagship of the Find X series of smartphones. This year they are looking to improve it even more through a new partnership with the traditional camera manufacturer Hasselblad.

The new venture with Hasselblad, announced today, is a three-year partnership “to co-develop industry-leading camera technologies for OPPO’s flagship Find series. The two brands will focus on breakthroughs in colour science to create an improved mobile photography experience on Hasselblad Camera for Mobile.” Previously we have seen Hasselblad join forces with OnePlus and now with the OnePlus-OPPO integration the partnership was expected and certainly not surprising.

Former OnePlus CEO and co-founder and now Chief Product Officer for OPPO, Pete Lau said of the partnership:

“Following the success of OnePlus and Hasselblad’s collaboration in the past year, we are very pleased to see the partnership enter a new stage of development, giving more users around the world a chance to enjoy the legendary Hasselblad mobile imaging experience. Camera colour performance has always been a focus for OPPO and a part of Hasselblad’s DNA. We are very excited to be able to explore the future of Hasselblad Camera for Mobile together.”

OPPO aims to deliver a world-class mobile photography experience as part of their next-generation premium smartphone experience with the help of their new imaging NPU MariSilicon X. The partnership with Hasselblad will focus on R&D to provide “more natural colours and a more refined imaging experience.”

The result of the new collab, “OPPO | Hasselblad Camera for Mobile”, will debut on OPPO’s flagship Find X series coming to Australia in “the coming months”. We have already seen leaked renders of the upcoming Find X5 Pro which not only show off this new partnership branding but the large camera island and the same seamless integration of it with the body of the smartphone as the Find X3 Pro. The new partnership will be aided of course with some high-end camera specs which are rumoured to be a triple rear camera setup including a 50MP main camera, a 50MP wide angled camera and a 13MP telephoto camera.

Rumoured specs for the upcoming OPPO Find X5 Pro include the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset underneath a 6.7-inch, 120Hz 2K LTPO AMOLED display. Ad din a 32MP front selfie camera, an in-display fingerprint sensor, IP68 rating, 80W SuperVOOC charging and 50W wireless AirVOOC charging and you have a beast of a device.

We expect it to arrive here in Australia late March to early April after a mid-March announcement here in Australia. If you are on the lookout for a new flagship device, this is looking like it will certainly be one to consider, especially with the new Hasselblad input on an already impressive camera.
