Motorola have a new pair of phones arriving down under this month, with their new flagship Motorola Edge 30 Pro launching this month, with their affordable 5G enabled Moto G22 set to arrive soon after. 

Moto Edge 30 Pro

For 2022, Motorola has brought their A-game for the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, including top of the line display, processor and all-day battery life with support for 68W fast-charging.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with a Snapdragon X65 Modem for 5G connectivity. There’s also 8GB RAM with 128GB of on-board storage.

The highlight though will be the 6.7″ Max Vision OLED display with a smooth scrolling 144Hz refresh rate. The display is HDR10+ rated so looks great with media, and the phone also includes dual speakers with Dolby Atmos audio and Snapdragon Sound.

There’s an all-day 4,800mAh battery and support for 68W fast-charging, however Motorola are still certifying the charger for the Australian market – so you’ll get a 30W charger in the box. You can also wirelessly charge with support for up to 15W.

For a flagship phone, Motorola have included some large senors with a triple-camera array on the rear consisting of a dual 50MP sensors with Wide and Ultra-Wide lenses which can fit 4x more into the frame, as well as shoot HDR10+ video in 8K resolution. There’s also a 2MP depth sensor for improved portrait effects. On the front you get a massive 60MP sensor for those all important selfies.

The phone will run on Android 12, with the Motorola My UX features built-in offering fast gesture support, as well as their ‘Ready For’ service which will let you turn the phone into a webcam for your Windows PC and more. Motorola has committed to 2 years of OS updates, with 3 years of security updates for the phone, which will likely be released as quarterly updates

The phone is launching in the US as the Moto Edge Plus which includes a stylus that can be stored in a case, but there’s no word on the stylus launching here in Australia.

Availability and Pricing

The Motorola edge 30 pro will sell for RRP $999 and come in Cosmos Blue. 

The phone will go on-sale at JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys, and online from Big W, OfficeWorks, Mobileciti and Lenovo.com from the 31st of March.

Moto G22

Also announced today is the Moto G22 which will be arriving in Australia shortly, adding to their affordable range of Moto G handsets. 

The Moto G22 is the latest entry into the popular Motorola G-series, bringing a 50MP camera sensor and all-day battery life thanks to the 5,000mAh battery on-board. 

The phone is powered by a Mediatek Helio G37 processorr, with 4GB RAM and 128GB of on-board storage with a microSD card slot for expansion. There’s a 6.5” HD+ resolution IPS display with a punch-hole notch for the 16MP Selfie Camera, which has a 90Hz refresh for super smooth scrolling on the front and a quad-camera system headlined by a 50MP main sensor, with 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP Depth and 2MP Macro camera on the rear.

According to Motorola the ‘Local on-sale date is to be confirmed’ here for the Moto G22, but it will sell for $299 in Cosmic Black and Pearl White colour options.
