Audi adds Apple Music to its infotainment offering – Aussie’s will need to wait

If you’re wondering what all the rumours about the Apple Car really mean – it’s not a car that team is working in, it’s the systems within a car – at least that’s my guess:). And an example of that is Audi’s latest announcement, Apple Music is coming to the Audi infotainment system.

With cars today, in particular in the premium market, you’re pretty much guaranteed there will be a SIM card slot, and most come with a data plan.

That data plan means systems in the car can get data from the internet, like maps, and in some cases software updates.

By integrating with Apple Music, an Audi car owner can simply sync up their Apple account, and stream your playlists, favourites and new music directly from the infotainment system.

This means you don’t need your phone paired, in fact you don’t even need your phone in the car to get access to your Apple Music.

Christiane Zorn, Head of Product Marketing at Audi says “Integrating Apple Music into the Audio infotainment system marks the next step in the collaboration between Audi and Apple,”

“For our customers, it means that we are offering them direct access to their own personalized listening experience. This is our understanding of a premium digital in-car experience. At Audi we are systematically driving the digitalization of the vehicle and we are convinced that the interior is increasingly developing into a third living space”.

The problem? Apple Music is coming to almost all 2022 model year Audi’s and onwards in Europe, North America and Japan.

But there’s no confirmation of it coming to Australia – but it seems inevitable of course.
