TCL RayNeo X2 Augmented Reality Smart Glasses get closer to looking just like eyeglasses

TCL has a long history of smart eyeglasses with their NXTWear line and today at CES, the company announced their next-generation TCL Augmented Reality (AR) glasses, the TCL RayNeo X2.

The TCL RayNeo X2 introduce binocular full-colour Micro-LED optical waveguide display enabling a range of different functions including smart navigation, auto-translation, photography, filming and music-playing – all in a design that actually looks like a pair of glasses.

The glasses are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform and include 3DoF for environment recognition. The platform supports Simultaneous Localisation And Mapping (SLAM) together with gesture recognition, with the mapping capabilities able to recognise and showcase landmarks as you use navigation.

TCL says that the RayNeo X2 also supports AI translation in multiple languages, allowing you to speak face-to-face with someone speaking another language and the AR glasses will display subtitles in real-time.

The glasses include Bluetooth 5.2, Wifi and GPS with USB Type-C for charging and connect with your phone to display your notifications on-screen so you don’t miss any messages or calls while you’re on the go.

A built-in camera will also capture stills, videos and even time-lapse while on the go, including stabilisation and auto night mode to help capture images in low-light. The glasses can even playback music in a ‘Whisper Mode’ preventing any sound leakage.

TCL will be launching the RayNeo X2 as a developer device in order to build a new AR ecosystem, with a developer project kicking off in Q1 2023, with the hope of seeing developers bring features and applications of AR on the glasses to the next level.

TCL RayNeoX2 will be made available first for developers in selected regions by the end of Q1 2023 followed by a commercial launch later, though no details on when were made available.

EFTM’s Coverage of CES 2023 is made possible by the ongoing support of our regular advertisers and supporters such as Arlo, Belkin, Oppo, Netgear, JBL and Trend Micro, and by additional support from Samsung, LG, Hisense, TCL, BMW and Boost Mobile.
