While MWC is usually a phone-centric event, it’s all about mobility and Lenovo have announced a new range of PC and Chromebook solutions with new ThinkPad and IdeaPad devices coming soon. 

The new range includes new AMD powered ThinkPad Z13 and Z16, as well as new T-Series, L-Series and E-Series ThinkPads and fourth generation ThinkPad X13 and X13 Yoga devices. There’s also a new IdeaPad Duet 3i with Windows 11 and IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook as well.

ThinkPad

ThinkPad Z13 and Z16

The second generation ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 are powered by the latest generation AMD Ryzen 7000 series Mobile Processors and Windows 11, with up to 64GB Dual Channel memory and up to 2GB PCIe SSD.

Design wise, the ThinkPad Z13 is introducing a new material for the lid made from flax fibre. The material is recovered from the harvest of flax seed and is woven and reinforced with Epoxy, then integrated with the aluminium frame. 

Both the Z13 and Z16 offer options for either IPS or OLED displays in 13.3-inch and 16-inch sizes at 16:10 aspect ratio. There’s Wifi 6E on-board with Bluetooth 5.1 and FHD camera and Dolby Voice enabled microphone.

The ThinkPad models of course include the iconic Trackpoint pointer, which now allows you to double tap it to open the TrackPoint Quick Menu to customise camera and microphone performance as well as configure battery settings or preferred audio device between bluetooth or built-in speakers. 

ThinkPad X13 and ThinkPad X13 Yoga 

The fourth generation ThinkPad X13 and ThinkPad X13 Yoga – the Yoga comes with the 360-degree hinge – have been redesigned to increase screen to body ratio with sleeker, narrower bezels. The Dolby Audio certified speakers are also now user facing for improved audio, especially when combined with the 5MP IR camera for video calls. 

The ThinkPad X13 and ThinkPad X13 Yoga can be configured with the latest 13th Generation Intel® Core processors with Intel vPro and Intel Iris Xe, and for AMD fans the ThinkPad X13 can also be offered with the latest AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Mobile Processors with integrated AMD Radeon Graphics. 

The machines can be configured with up to 32GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, with the 13.3-inch display able to be configured with  a 2.8K OLED on the X13 Gen 4 or IPS displays on both models. There is of course Thunderbolt 4 offered on the Intel powered machines, with USB4 on the AMD.

ThinkPad T-Series

Lenovo will also be offering new models of the now twenty generation old ThinkPad T-Series, with the T14 Gen 4, T16 Gen 2 and T14s Gen 4. 

The new models will be offered with either 13th gen Intel Core processors with Intel vPro with Intel Iris Xe or NVIDIA MX550 graphics, or AMD Ryzen 7000 series Mobile Processors with AMD Radeon Graphics. All models can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD. 

The T14 Gen 4 and T14s Gen 4 can have the 14-inch, 16:10 aspect ratio display configured as either a 2.8K OLED or a range of IPS displays, while the T16 Gen 2 has options for a 4K OLED or a range of IPS panels in 16-inch size at 16:10 aspect ratio. 

ThinkPad L-Series

Lenovo’s ThinkPad L-Series including the L14 Gen 4 and L15 Gen 4 are getting an update to the displays, which now include a low blue light display option, which uses low power to help increase battery efficiency. 

The L14 Gen 4 and L15 Gen 4 can both be offered with either 13th gen Intel Core processors with Intel vPro with Intel Iris Xe or NVIDIA MX550 graphics, or AMD Ryzen 7000 series Mobile Processors with AMD Radeon Graphics

Both machines can now be optioned with up to 2TB SSD storage, twice the capacity of the previous generation, as well as up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM.

The ThinkPad L14 Gen 4 will include a 14-inch 16:10 aspect ratio FHD resolution IPS panel, while the ThinkPad L15 Gen 4 will include a 15.6-inch 16:9 aspect ratio IPS display.

ThinkPad E-Series

Aimed at small and medium businesses, the new ThinkPad E14 Gen 5 and ThinkPad E16 now feature 16:10 aspect ratio IPS displays with increased screen-to-body ratios in either 14-inch or 16-inch sizes. 

The laptops can be configured with either 13th gen Intel Core processors with Intel vPro with Intel Iris Xe or NVIDIA MX550 graphics, or AMD Ryzen 7030 series Mobile Processors with AMD Radeon Graphics. Both machines offer builds with up to 40GB DDR4 RAM and dual SSD storage up to 2TB (2x 1Tb) with optional Wi-Fi 6E.

IdeaPad

On the IdeaPad front, Lenovo has announced two new models, the Windows 11 packing IdeaPad Duet 3i, and the the IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook. 

IdeaPad Duet 3i

The IdeaPad Duet 3i detachable laptop runs Windows 11 with new Intel N-series Processors and either 4GB or 8GB of DDR5 RAM with up to 256GB of M.2 PCIe SSD storage. 

An 11.5-inch 2K resolution IPS touch display is on the front of the tablet section, which supports 100% DCI-P3 offering a vibrant display with 400 nits brightness for excellent viewing. The display supports the optional Lenovo Digital  Pen for writing notes or drawing. 

The IdeaPad Duet 3i includes both an upgraded 5MP front camera and 8MP rear webcam, and Dolby Audio speaker for excellent all-round multimedia experience. 

The detachable is designed for all-day performance with up to 8.5 hours of battery life, with the Rapid Charge Boost charging allowing up to 2 hours of use with just 15 minutes of charge. 

IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook

For those in the ChromeOS camp, the IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook offers a ‘Pick-up-and-Go’ solution for fast work while on the go.

Powered by Google’s ChromeOS and with the Google Play app store built-in, the Chromebook is run by a MediaTek Kompanio 500 Series processor with up to 8GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 128GB of on-board storage. There’s also up to a FHD webcam on-board with a privacy shutter.

The lightweight machine, which weighs in at just 1.3Kg, includes all-day battery life with up to 13.5 hours of life. The Chromebook also features front-facing speakers tuned by Waves MaxxAudio, a full-functioned Type-C port and a dedicated mute key.

Availability

Lenovo hasn’t announced any pricing, or release dates for any of their new ThinkPad or IdeaPad devices, with Lenovo Australia advising that ANZ pricing and availability will be shared as soon as confirmed locally.
