It’s hard to question Arlo’s dedication to the home security market, they’ve been at it for longer than most and have products to suit every need, feature and price. Today, they’ve revealed a new Essential range which pushes prices lower and makes their brand a must see for anyone in the market.

The “Essential” range is not new for Arlo, but this updated product range adds features, capabilities and sharpens the pencil on price for Australian’s in what is a very competitive market.

Research has shown that the interest in adding security to Aussie homes is high, but that begs the question – why aren’t more people doing it? The simple answer is price, and complexity.

Arlo hopes this new Essential range answers both those pressure points “Arlo prides itself in building trusted, lifelong customer relationships with innovative, awardwinning security solutions that deliver an exceptional user experience,” said Brad Little, Vice President & Managing Director – Arlo APAC.

“Our new second generation Essential cameras and doorbell provide the best combination of technology and value Arlo has ever offered, adding to Arlo’s wide range of high-quality products and industry-leading AI software to ensure you can protect your everything.”

Like the iPhone 15, Arlo Essential moves to USB-C for charging, while the real leap forward is the camera.

Now featuring 2K video resolution for those who didn’t think 1080HD was enough – Arlo has you covered.

There is a new Essential Outdoor cameara, New Essential Indoor camera, a new Doorbell and some new accessories too.

All feature a new Bluetooth pairing process, to replace the QR code style in the app, which should make installation a breeze.

Essential Outdoor Camera (2nd Generation)

When comparing to other plug and play products, this outdoor all-weather fully wireless camera’s 2K video, 130 degree viewing angle and integrated spotlight should be enough to get most people over the line. Now put the $159 price tag on it, and you’ll be snapping them up.

Features:

  • 130-Degree Viewing Angle: Keep an eye on what matters most with a wide field of view
  • Integrated Spotlight: Shine a light on your yard to ward off unwelcome visitors
  • See More at Night: See videos in colour rather than traditional black and white for better identification
  • Noise-Cancelling Audio: Hear and speak to visitors with clear, two-way audio
  • Integrated Siren: Trigger your siren automatically, or manually from the Arlo app
  • Weather Resistant: Designed to withstand heat, cold, rain, or sun
  • Easy Setup and Install: Easy DIY installation with wire-free setup and mount
  • RRP of A$159 / NZ $179 for a single camera kit.

Essential Indoor Camera (2nd Generation)

One of my favourite cameras gets an overhaul, a fresh new design, plus that improved video quality and the all-important Privacy Shield remains a critical selling point.

And, just $129 – that’s $30 less than the first generation.

  • Automated Privacy Shield: Keep moments private at any time by closing the shield directly through the Arlo Secure App
  • 130-Degree Viewing Angle: Keep an eye on what matters most with a wide field of view
  • Noise-Cancelling Audio with Two-Way Talk: Hear and speak to visitors with clear, two-way audio
  • See at Night: View critical details even without a light with night vision
  • Integrated Siren: Trigger your siren automatically, or manually from the Arlo app
  • Easy Setup and Install: Plug in and connect directly to Wi-Fi and install anywhere
  • RRP of A$129 / NZ $149 for a single camera kit.

Video Doorbell (2nd Generation)

This is the new Doorbell no matter what your Arlo setup.

Again 2K resolution, that important field of view from foot to ceiling, and a sharp price of $229.

  • Video Call: Answer the doorbell directly from your phone so you never miss a visitor
  • Visitor Messaging: Have your guests leave a voice message if you’re unable to answer the door, while listening remotely at your convenience
  • Get the Full Picture: See a person from head to toe and packages on the ground with 180-degree field of view
  • See at Night: View critical details even without a light with night vision
  • Integrated Siren: Trigger your siren automatically, or manually from the Arlo app
  • Weather Resistant: Certified to withstand heat, cold, rain, or sun
  • RRP of A$229 / NZ $259

These all work with the new Arlo Secure app which is user friendly and far more advanced than the older version it replaces, but also come with an Arlo Secure trial so you can test out those cloud and notification features too.

Essential range cameras need to be removed and charged via USB-C, being a key point of difference to Pro and Ultra cameras, but the new Solar accessory is smaller and should mean some people never need to touch their camera once setup.

The full range is rolling out now, we’ve got ours installed and we’ll have a review in the weeks ahead!
