Oppo readies ColorOS 14 roll out for the latest features

Oppo phone owners will get access to the Android 14 based updated ColorOS 14 over the coming months with a design the company calls “aquamographic”.

There’s AI on board to help improve efficiency, smooth performance and a range of new tools to put privacy controls in your hand.

ColorOS has been the backbone of OPPO phones since 2013, and there are now 600 million monthly active users – in 10 years! That’s phenomenal.

The design, Oppo say, is inspired by water and it’s been optimised from version 13’s implementation with updated sound effects, colours and interactions.

Your always-on display is enhanced with a new Go Green Always-On display aimed at promoting climate awareness.

But in the year of AI, ColourOS is all-in. A new AI-powered Smart Touch enables users to “select content like text, images, and videos and collect them on the File Dock, or even consolidate them into a single note by simple select and drag gestures”.

And there’s some nifty stuff too, using “Smart Image Matting” you can crop multiple subjects out of a single image or paused video.

Power and performance should be noticeably different with new RAM, ROM and CPU efficiency and AI smarts built into charging to help prolong your battery life.

One of the core things you’ll notice when installed is the enhanced permissions control being placed in the users’ hands, things like photo access, location and many more now controlled granularly.

The Beta roll out is beginning now with the Find N2 Flip getting it first, the rest of the compatible devices will update in the months following.
