When it comes to projectors, the new Hisense C1 TriChroma Laser Mini Projector is deceptive – I saw it as a demonstration a couple of months ago at IFA in Berlin, but today at CES in Las Vegas Hisense Australia confirmed that the C1 is coming to Australia and they’re out to impress.

Sure, you can position the C1 to project a 65 inch screen onto a wall or dedicate projector screen. But step it back, position it correctly and well – built it and they will come. This little fella will throw an impressive 300 inch screen if pushed.

Thanks to Hisense’s TriChroma Laser projection technology, at any size this is still a crisp and clear 4K resolution picture.

And, like all Hisense Laser TVs it features their regular TV operating system – in this case VIDAA U6 so you’ve got a familiar interface, all your favourite apps and off you go for viewing pleasure.

The whole thing weighs in under 5kg, so it can quite easily be repositioned if you’re having a movie night in another room – and using the AutoMagic adjustment feature the setup is a breeze.

Gideon Lui, Head of Marketing, Hisense ANZ says “We are seeing strong appetite for our premium Laser technology in the Australian market. Hisense has continued to invest and innovate heavily in Laser technology, and we’re proud to offer an extended product range that just makes sense for Australians looking to bring the ultimate cinema experience into the home. The C1 TriChroma Laser Mini Projector forms the foundation of our entry into the new sub-category of premium laser long throw projection, and will provide another level of versatility for those looking to explore the incredible experience and benefits of our Laser range,”

Just for a sense of size, here’s my regular old hand on the Hisense C1 Laser Projector

In addition to auto keystone adjustment there’s another little smart feature here that we see in cars – obstacle avoidance. Not that it’s self-driving, but if there’s – lets say – a light switch on the wall, the C1 will not project the image over the switch, instead re-sizing and adjusting to fit on the clear space. That’s amazing!

“Hisense isn’t just a participant in the Laser category globally, we are the pioneer in this technology. We pride ourselves on our ability to push the boundaries of picture and audio quality in this broadening range of state-of-the-art products. To be able to do this, while also keeping a keen eye on the range’s sustainability credentials, is testimony to Hisense’s relentless pursuit to lead and define the Laser category,” Lui added.

“Across the board, it’s clear that Laser home entertainment technologies are able to deliver big on-screen size, while also minimising our impact to the environment. We’re proud to hold ourselves in such high regard in this space, making us a clear choice for prospective owners,” Lui concluded.

We’ll find out pricing when we get more on the Hisense TV range in March, but this is a strong addition to an already full Laser TV lineup featuring a mix of dedicated screen and projection matched systems, and standalone projectors for variable sizes.
