At CES 2024 this morning NVIDIA has announced their new upgraded PC GPUs, the RTX 40 SUPER series, designed for a bump in power while maintaining the same price point as the non-SUPER versions.
The new RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and RTX 4070 SUPER GPUs are NVIDIA’s response to the new AMD high end GPUs which undercut their previous offerings with the new SUPER series also designed specifically for AI tasks. As part of the upgrade, NVIDIA will be phasing out the RTX 4070 Ti but the RTX 4070 will remain available but will see a price cut.
The new GPUs from NVIDIA will be arriving here in Australia in the coming weeks with the RTX 4070 SUPER coming first on January 17 for AU$1,119 followed by the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER on January 24 for AU$1,499 and finally the RTX 4080 SUPER on January 31 for AU$1,870. Expect to see various manufacturers offer different prices once there is more competition in the market.
The performance bump of the three GPUs is not massive with the RTX 4080 SUPER offering only up to 5% bump over the RTX 4080 but the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER will see a bump of up to 10%, making it the more interesting of the three upgrades.
The RTX 4070 SUPER will see performance faster than the RTX 3090 while drawing less power and while the G6X memory remains at 12GB, the CUDA core count is increased to give the GPU its performance boost. Its overall performance boost from the RTX 4070 will be a decent 15% while being the same price.
