LDV T60 updated with more safety tech, upmarket interior

One of Australia’s cheapest utes – the LDV T60 – has a new flagship variant called the LDV T60 Max Plus.

Key changes announced today ahead of showroom arrivals in the coming weeks include:

  • A bold new front-end appearance (new bumper, lights and grille);
  • A more luxurious interior with twin 12.3-inch widescreen displays and an elevated centre console;
  • New wheel design;
  • Extra safety technology including autonomous emergency braking, radar cruise control, lane-keeping assistance;
  • New multi-link rear suspension for better road-holding;
  • Increased ground clearance;
  • On-demand rear differential lock;
  • Electric power steering for easier turns in tight spots;
  • Electric park brake with hill hold function;
  • Heated and power-folding side mirrors;
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto;
  • $45,990 drive-away (manual), $47,990 drive-away (automatic), $49,490 for the long-wheelbase Megatub automatic.

For now, the regular LDV T60 Max line-up – priced from $36,990 to $44,990 drive-away – remains unchanged and will continue to be sold alongside the new flagship LDV T60 Max ‘Plus’ variant.

Standard features across all LDV T60 models include:

  • Twin turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel (160kW/500Nm), one of the most powerful engines in the segment;
  • 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox recalibrated for smoother and more intuitive shifts;
  • Fuel consumption rating label is 9.3L/100km for the manual and 8.9L/100km for the auto;
  • Six airbags (driver and front passenger, side airbags, and full-length curtain bags);
  • All LDV T60 utes come with a 7-year/200,000km (whichever occurs first) warranty and 5-year/unlimited kilometre Roadside Assist.

The LDV T60 Max Plus is due in showrooms in the coming months in limited numbers.

For now it is unclear when or if it will become a permanent member of the LDV line-up in Australia.

The upgrade brings the LDV T60’s safety tech closer to other Chinese utes, the GWM Cannon and upcoming JAC T9, and the recently face-lifted Ssangyong Musso.
