The electric version of the modern VW Kombi – officially known as the iD Buzz – is a step closer to Australian showrooms.

Two examples of the iconic electric vehicle – a van and a people-mover – have been caught on camera after touching down at Sydney Airport.

EFTM understands the vehicles were air-freighted to Australia to fast-track final compliance checks with Australian regulators.

It is not the first time the VW iD Buzz has been in Australia – two examples were sent here last year – but it is the first time we have seen the basic delivery van with grey bumpers and steel wheels.

VW Australia is yet to confirm exact arrival timing and pricing for the VW iD Buzz twins, though they are expected in local showrooms by the end of this year.

Based on European pricing the RRPs are expected to be close to – or in excess of – $100,000 in Australia.

Initially the short-wheelbase models will be offered in Australia, though they are expected to be followed by the long-wheelbase variants next year.
