HMD bring the fun with the Barbie Phone launching down under in time for summer

After launching their branded phones earlier this year, HMD are moving forward building their own range of phones, with the latest, the HMD Barbie Phone, set to get your families Barbie fan thinking about disconnecting, all while doing it in bright pink style.

The feature phone offers a Barbie themed interface, including customised app icons, wallpapers and ringtones, as well as having the phone say ‘Hi Barbie’ when it boots up. Of course it’s bright pink with matching battery covers and there’s even a Barbie approved mirror on the front.

There’s replaceable pink covers included in the box, featuring Barbie designs and a pastel coloured, beaded phone strap with Barbie themed charms attached. You can also add on your own stick-on crystals and retro Barbie stickers to really make it your own.

There’s Barbie everywhere – including the pink battery – with a missed call notification from Ken when you load up the phone, and you can save his number to your contacts. You can even try out a range of easter eggs baked into the dialler where you can punch in BARBIE (#227243#) to get a surprise.

With only feature phone options, the HMD Barbie Phone is perfect to disconnect from a busy life, with  ‘Digital balance tips’ and Barbie Meditaition included to help you unwind.

Global Chief Marketing Officer at Human Mobile Devices, Lars Silberbauer, said

“In our fast-paced digital world, it can often feel like the online buzz never stops. This phone encourages you to ditch your smartphone in times when you just want less browsing and more fun, all with the help of a true cultural icon, Barbie. Barbie is as popular as she’s ever been, and feature phones are continuing to go from strength to strength – we’re bringing two brilliant things together. We cannot wait for people to get their hands on the device and take a holiday from their smartphone”.

You can get your hands on the HMD Barbie Phone from September 5th for $199 from JB HiFi, Harvey Norman, Big W, Officeworks, The Good Guys, and online only at Amazon.
