Apple MacBook Pro gets more power with M4 Pro and a new M4 Max

Completing what appears to be a week of back to back announcements Apple has dropped a new MacBook Pro with the latest M4 Pro chip, and announced a new M4 Max chip for more ultimate performance in this premium laptop model.

Available Friday November 8 alongside the new iMac and Mac Mini, the new MacBook Pro is all about the insides, except one feature – nano-texture screen option.

On any of the new MacBook Pro models you can option the Nano Texture glass which gives you a dulled glare in direct light, meaning lower interference from reflections – great for bright rooms, rooms with lots of physical lights and for those using their MacBook on the go outdoors.

All three USB-C ports are Thunderbolt 4 compatible with the M4 Pro chip operating at 1.3 times faster than the M3 Pro.

But it’s the M4 Max chip that really steps it up a gear. Enabling Thunderbolt 5 on those USB-C ports plus increased performance across all aspects of the chipset.

Battery life is now quoted at 24 hours, while screen brightness jumps to 1000 nits in SDR content and 1600 nits for HDR.

The 14 inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,499 with M4, $3,099 with M4 Pro and $4,999 with M4 Max.

Choose the 16 inch Model and that’s going to be $3,999 with M4 Pro and $5,699 with M4 Max.

At the same time, Apple has announced that the M2 and M3 enabled MacBook Air models will now come with double the entry level capacity memory, now at 16GB.
