Hisense goes big, very big with a 116 inch TV launching in Australia

At CES there’s always big things, and TVs every year are the star of the show – the bigger the better. In 2025 we’re already seeing lots of talk of “AI” in everything so when you put those things together, you’re getting very big, and very smart TVs.

Hisense’s biggest in 2025 will be the giant 116-inch TriChroma LED TV, the next generation of the simply outstanding 110 inch launched just months ago in Australia.

“Innovation and design are central values for us at Hisense that fuel our drive to advance display technologies that bring the very best entertainment experience into Australian homes,” said Chris Kotis, Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Hisense Australia and New Zealand.

“The continued refinement of our flagship Mini-LED technology as well as our pursuit of the next generation of display technology embody this commitment to make premium technology accessible to all.”

The 116-inch TriChroma LED TV will feature a new style Mini LED Backlighting technology, these Mini LED’s are red, green and blue, taking a lead from their “trichroma” Laser TV technology allowing each Mini LED backlight to be colour controlled. This allows for both strong brightness – as we saw on the 110, but also near perfect colour reproduction – Hisense will call this “TriChroma LED”

Packed into the TV is 6.2.2 dedicated audio providing a 240 degree physical sound performance, and 360 degree virtual sound using a Beamforming of the audio which adapts to the room it’s in – a first for Hisense.

Hisense image of just how big a 116 TriChroma LED TV would look!

Despite the size of this TV and the brightness it’s capable of, Hisense has also achieved a 10% reduction in power consumption.

Under the hood will be Hisense’s most advanced processor known as the “Hi-View Engine X”. This allows for all the key tech features like Flicker Free performance using AI Picture control, better light control, dynamic tone mapping and AI Noise reduction.

Additionally there’s AI Sound including sound optimisation and dialogue clarity, energy saving using a light sensor in the room, and a whole bunch of scenario detection including Face Detection, Picture Optimisation, Sports mode and up to 165Hz Game Mode Pro.

Across the Hisense ULED range the company is looking to set a simple benchmark for their TVs. If it’s ULED it’s Mini LED, Quantum Dot, has Dolby Vision IQ and at least 144Hz Game Mode. This includes the lower range level U6 Models which previously didn’t have 144Hz so they now are slated at ULED.

Hisense is also bringing less “non-ULED” TV’s to market this year.

Like pretty much every big tech brand, Hisense is at pains to point out that they are not new to Artificial Intelligence. AI has been in their devices for a while, but it’s now being broken out into those areas I mentioned like Picture, Sound etc, to make it more understandable.

One area of interest to sports fans is that in AI Sports mode, your premium Hisense TV is upscaling the Scoreboard separately to the actual sport itself. As with all included AI – Hisense wants you not to worry about it, because “it just works”.

All their AI features are by default ON, but can be turned off in settings.

Aside from the impressive 116 inch TV, Hisense has by my count another four TVs that are 100 inches or bigger.

Their U6QUA will come in 50,55,65,75,85 and 100 inch, the U7QAU in 55-100 inches, the U8QAU in 65-100 inches and the UX110.

Hisense TVs are getting easier to spot in terms of the range. If it’s a U, it’s ULED, the higher the second number (consider X to be the highest), the better it’s features.

Outside of ULED there will be some Q7 and Q6 models, as well as a smaller A4QAU, and critically, the Canvas TV comes in 55, 65, 75 inch sizes.

For context around the impressiveness of the ULED range, the “base” model ULED the U6 features Mini LED, 1000nits brightness, Quantum Dot colour, Hi-View Engine Pro and Dolby Vision IQ.

This is just the reveal of the range, more details like Hisense TV availability and pricing will come further into 2025.
