There’s a lot of new products at CES, however security company Ring has announced new features coming to existing cameras, including an update to 2K video and vehicle detection.

The update will include 2K video for the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro, updating their existing 1080p capture – something Scott has been asking for for a while now in his reviews. The update will make for a more crisp video, with Ring saying ‘2K will deliver even greater sharpness and texture quality for enhanced detail and clarity’.

Ring will roll out the update to 2K video for Floodlight Cam Wired Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro owners from January 8th to customers in Australia and New Zealand, updating both new and existing devices.

On the vehicle detection front, there’s an update rolling out from today to new and existing devices which will bring the ability for customers with a Ring Home subscription plan to be notified when your camera detects a vehicle in its field of view.

While 2K video was limited, Vehicle Detection will be available to a larger number of devices including:

  • Floodlight Cam Wired Pro
  • Spotlight Cam Pro
  • Spotlight Cam Plus
  • Floodlight Cam Wired Plus
  • Pan-Tilt Indoor Camera
  • Indoor Camera (2nd Gen)
  • Battery Video Doorbell
  • Battery Video Doorbell Plus
  • Battery Video Doorbell Pro
  • Video Doorbell Wired
  • Wired Doorbell Pro

The update will start from today, but may take several weeks to finish reaching all users. You’ll be able to find the update through the Ring app.
