ASUS ROG Phone 9 series pre-orders go live in Australia to level up your mobile gaming

Mobile gamers will be looking forward to this, with the launch of the ASUS ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro available to pre-order in Australia today.

Announced globally in November, the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro offer similar high-end hardware experience for gamers across both models.

In terms of specs, the phones are a hardware nerds dream. The ROG Phone 9 series is based on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform. To complement the 3nm SoC you’ll also get the benefits of the ROG GameCool 9 cooling system which can maintain performance over long gaming sessions – and you can also add on their optional AeroActive Cooler accessory if you want to really cool your system down.

The differentiation between the models starts in the RAM and storage options. The ROG Phone 9 comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the ROG Phone 9 Pro comes in two options: 16GB RAM/512GB of storage, or a mammoth 24GB RAM and 1TB of storage.

ASUS have included the same sized 6.78” AMOLED display as the previous generation, though amping up the refresh rate to a crazy 185Hz – though it’ll ‘dawdle’ along at 120Hz when you’re not gaming.

The phones come in only two colour options for the ROG Phone 9: Storm White or Phantom Black, while the ROG Phone 9 Pro is only available in Phantom Black.

ASUS have bumped the ROG Phone 9 to have a more functional AniMe display on the rear this year, while the ROG Phone 9 Pro gets bumped up to 648 programmable mini-LEDs – letting you customise the graphics and even play mini games on the Pro models.

The ROG Phone 9 series includes a triple-camera system on the rear, though there are differences here between the models.

Both phones include a 50MP 6-axis gimbal stabilised main sensor and 13MP Ultra-wide sensor, while the ROG Phone 9 includes a 5MP Macro sensor, the ROG Phone 9 Pro gets a 32MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom.

It’s not just software though, with ASUS including gaming focused controls and AI tools to enhance your mobile gaming experience.

You get the AirTrigger touch system which adds a variety of touch points to improve your gaming. You can get an array of gestures using Air Triggers including Dual Action, Press and Lift, and Gyroscope Aiming.

For fans of the AirTrigger system you can also get two more buttons on the optional AeroActive Cooler X Pro – which also includes a sub woofer to enhance the already fantastic front-facing audio system.

On the AI front, a series of tools is on board including X Sense 3.0 for AI image recognition, which can streamline in-game tasks including auto-upgrading character skills, as well as X Capture 2.0 which can recognise and record important events in-game. AI Grabber can recognise text making it easier to search for tips and you also get AI Noise Cancellation.

Bradley Howe, Head of Consumer at ASUS ANZ said

The ROG Phone 9 series is more than just a gaming phone – it’s a bold lifestyle statement. With its sleek design, cutting-edge display, and the power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, we are confident the new series will deliver a gaming experience that’s second to none.
