Matter, the smart home standard embraced by industry leaders like Apple, Google, Amazon and more, is growing in support with robot vacuum maker Ecovacs adding support for the standard to their range moving forward.

The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) who administer the standard, first added support for robot vacuums to Matter back in version 1.2, though it hasn’t been until the release of iOS 18.4 this week that we’ve seen manufacturers like Ecovacs and Roborock announcing updates to support Matter.

The update will apply to Ecovacs global line-up, including the DEEBOT X2, X2 Combo, T50, T50 Max, and X8, all of which will gain Matter 1.4 support, which will simplify the connected home experience, adding to what is already a fairly good experience.

The Matter compatibility will make using Ecovacs vacuum cleaners across platforms, whether locally or via the cloud easier, offering control and automation from ecosystems that support the standard. The update will mean you’ll soon be able to ask Siri, GoogleGemini, Alexa et al, to clean without having to go through the setup each time – simply add a Matter connected device.

For owners of ECOVACS robot vacuums, you’ll see updates in your Ecovacs Home app when it’s available – though it’s rolling out in phases.
