Despite being available on iOS for several months, Android users have had to wait to get their hands on one of the world’s most popular creative and photo editing programs, Adobe Photoshop. Until now.
Photoshop has finally been released in the Google Play Store and for the time being, whilst it is still in beta, it’s free
Adobe states that “Since its debut in February, creators have embraced the Photoshop mobile app, using it for everything from editing photos and unique digital art on the go, to creating intricate collages, amazing thumbnails and more. Now, we’re excited to bring Photoshop to Android to empower more mobile creators to bring their ideas to life with creative freedom, anytime and anywhere”

Whilst functionality in the beta version may be limited, it still boasts an impressive range of tools and image editing and design capabilities including the ability to
- Combine and blend images using core Photoshop tools like selections, layers, and masks
- Quickly remove or replace parts of an image with the intuitive Tap Select tool
- Brush away distractions in seconds using tools like the Spot Healing Brush
- Use Firefly-powered generative AI features like Generative Fill to effortlessly add or transform elements in visual designs
- Enhance creative work with a growing library of free Adobe Stock assets
- Make accurate selections with Object Select and Magic Wand
- Refine images with advanced tools like Remove and Clone Stamp
- Control layers and effects with advanced blend modes and adjustment layers
Users are encouraged to download the app and connect with the Photoshop community through the Adobe Community Forums. Adobe said that they will continue to develop the app by taking into account community feedback so what’s stopping you Android users?
