The Kogan XPRESSO Dual Screen Portable Monitor made my travel setup feel like home!

I travel a lot, people know that, and while some think it’s all sight seeing and holidays the truth is that I spend a heck of a lot of time in my hotel room, at a desk, working. On this current trip across both Europe and the USA I brought with me the Kogan XPRESSO 14″ Full HD Pro Dual Screen Tri-Fold Portable Monitor to make my work setup feel more like I was not on the road.

Perhaps it’s my inability to focus on one thing, or maybe it sounds better to say I’m a genius at multi-tasking, but I do like to have a lot happening “on screen” in front of me.

At the EFTM Office i have a 49 inch Ultra-wide monitor so I can have emails, calendar, web and video streaming all happening in view at one time.

But on the road, you’re lumped with the single screen of your Laptop on a dodgy hotel desk. Earlier in the year I took the stunning Espresso display with me to San Jose and it’s the best you can get, no doubt, and being thin and light and portable is a winner, however it does come at a price.

What I got with the Kogan Dual-Screen setup was something I packed in my carry-on – because firstly I don’t need extra screens on the plane, nor do I need them at the Airport. Secondly, this setup comes in a handy carry bag you could take anywhere, but it’s a bit much to jam into my already overloaded backpack.

Settling into a new hotel room, I grab my Laptop and then unfold the two screens from this tri-fold little unit.

The centre unit pulls apart and then you simply push it back together with your laptop in between.

Instructions that come with it are somewhat daunting, and there’s a USB thumb drive in the package as well, which is the Driver required for either Mac or Windows. Seems complex to be honest, but, it did just work, so no real complaints there!

Each display, left and right has its own brightness control.

The buttons are on the top right of the centre section above your laptop screen.

The overall construction of this feels very plastic, but I think that’s the payoff for it being light weight too – so it’s a balance I’ll go with.

What I would say is that on my 14 inch MacBook Air, I think the clamping action isn’t quite enough to feel like it’s stuck on there, would work better on a wider body unit, though it never gave me any grief at all.

Certainly, this is made for desktop use, you’re not meant to lay in bed with extra screens – that’s insanity folks.

A little kick stand means the whole lot won’t topple over on you too – and once the driver is installed, you just need a single USB-C to C cable to make it all work.

However, I do not recommend doing all this on battery power.

For some inexplicable reason my hotel room “desk” area has no power point – so, I was on battery, and boy did the three screens chew into that! So – opt for plugging your laptop in folks!

Overall though, for a little over 0 (Spend more, get more as there are options, even a third extra screen!), it’s a real cracker.

Stream the shows you’re watching on one side, keep email open on the other, and work away on the main laptop screen – that’s pretty much been my week – and I loved it.

If you travel a lot, or just want something to add desktop space at your home office setup but can’t factor in a permanent full monitor, this is a great option from Kogan.
