Channel 10 available on LG Channels – watch Free TV without an Antenna

Paramount Australia, owners of Network Ten may have just done the single smartest thing a free-to-air network could do in a fast moving digital world, they’ve partnered with LG to make their live “linear” TV channels available on the LG streaming TV platform “LG Channels”.

Why is this smart? Well we’re moving so fast away from “broadcast TV” which is traditionally your free to air channels via an antenna into a world dominated by streaming content that you really need to put your content where the audience is, so this is doing just that.

On most recent LG TV’s you’ll find a little icon for “LG Channels” which launches into a program guide of over 100 channels of content. Now, with this deal, Channel 10 and their other live channels such as 10 Drama and 10 Comedy will be found in LG Channels.

It means no downloading an app to watch live TV, and puts Channel 10 back where it was in the original days of TV – as a channel choice – no matter if you’ve got an antenna plugged in or not.

Lachlan Roach from Paramount Australia said: “With the 10 IP linear feed seamlessly integrated into LG Channels, audiences are provided with immediate access to live and scheduled broadcast content, directly from their LG webOS devices.”

“This landmark development sets a new global standard for IP content delivery and paves the way for future innovation in streaming and broadcast synergy. We have been clear in our strategy of meeting audiences where they want to watch our content, and this distribution partnership is an example of us executing on our strategy.”

“We are thrilled to have worked in such a collaborative and strategic fashion with LG when developing this partnership, allowing us to not only launch an Australia first CTV IP linear distribution partnership, but deliver commercial value for a number of our group assets.”

LG’s Tony Brown has been passionate about this kind of integration for years, saying “This partnership is a significant milestone in the evolution of TV and content viewing, not just for Australia, but globally. As a major TV manufacturer, LG is proud to be at the forefront of integrating traditional broadcasting with the modern streaming era, and we are excited to take this next step with Paramount Australia.”

“This partnership reinforces our commitment to providing Australians with seamless access to the content they know and love, further cementing our position as one of the premium Smart TV market leaders.”

“Driven by innovation, LG TVs are designed to be the central hub for seamless, integrated, high quality entertainment, delivering on our Life’s Good promise.”
